Thetreatment for upper back pain involves a series of conservative measures; surgery is rarely required. This type of back pain is less common than lower back pain, but it can cause a number of long-term discomforts.
When we speak of"upper back" we can refer to pain in various parts of it: sections of the neck, shoulders, the dorsal region or middle back. Regardless of the subjective appreciation of this, we can establish that upper back pain can affect two different sections of the spine: cervical and thoracic.
The cervical spine contains nerves associated with the head, neck and arms; while the thoracic spine contains nerves from the chest and abdominals. It is important to understand this distinction in order to recognize pain in the specific region: the existing pain in the cervical spine is much more delicate than pain in the thoracic spine, as we will see below.
One of the most common causes is muscle strain, that is, when a muscle is subjected to abnormal or exaggerated stretching. This can happen because of bad posture, accidents or hits. In most cases, pain subsides with rest and medication.
When pain does not disappear for days or is intermittent, it may be due to other causes such as: herniated discs, arthritis, spondylosis, etc. It is worth mentioning that these types of ailments affect much more the neck and lumbar area (lower back) due to the increase of body weight.
The most effective treatment for upper back pain is composed of three fundamental components:
Surgery is only necessary in very serious cases. The © Ovando Sanders Method, exclusive of the CCV, is designed based on these fundamental axes and can solve most back pain problems.
