The termspondylarthrosis refers to degenerative changes to the spine. In most cases there is presence of pain in the neck or cervical area.
It is a degenerative process of the osteoarticular structures of the spine, usually developing or being emphasized with age and sometimes injuries caused by bad movements. Individual factors also have an influence, such as: overweight, concomitant diseases, (rheumatologic, general diseases that condition poor bone quality), physical and/or occupational activities, etc.
Usually the problem can have variable expressions from a pain in the neck to a slipped vertebra.
Due to the increase in life expectancy of the general population in Mexico, spondylarthrosis is becoming more and more frequent, predominating in patients over 60 years of age. However, it can also occur in young patients, since the degenerative changes occur approximately in the third decade of life.
When talking about spondylarthrosis, one can hardly stop thinking about the lumbar canal. At the Centro de la Columna Vertebral we have the knowledge and the appropriate non-surgical treatment to combat these pains and improve the quality of life.
To live without pain is to live better.
